Anise Seed Whole and Ground


Anise seed is  a plant native to the Mediterranean basin, it has been used throughout history in many sweet and savory dishes . Anise cakes being popular during ancient times were served at the end of elaborate feasts.

 In Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine both feature anise seed heavily in liquors,cakes and breads.Anise seed give Greek orzo it's distinctive flavor. In the US we use anise in sausage.It also pairs well with tomatoes and in sauces and stews.

Star Anise which is not related to one another, but both have very close flavors and in ground form one can be substituted for the other.
